The Commodore 64 Turns 30 - BBC
Should have uploaded this a long time ago but... whatever heh.
The news piece I filmed for the BBC in 2012 to celebrate the Commodore 64's 30th anniversary. Complete with obligatory "blue screen" joke and proving just how fragile tape loading was back then...!

F-Zero Port Town II 2'24"09 (no shortcuts)
Переглядів 1056 років тому
Demonstration on real Super Nintendo hardware (SFC cart) of Port Town II time trial. Sorry about the screen being cut off on the right, only realised after I'd completed the filming. Also the microphone barely picks up the TV so hardly any soundtrack either...
Controllers - International Play Your Vectrex Day 2017
Переглядів 2276 років тому
A video made to celebrate IPYVD 2017 featuring a variety of joysticks and controllers that have been released for the Vectrex over the years. Which controllers you may ask? You'll just have to watch the video to find out! Needless to say, this is not everything that's available and there are many others out there I do not own (yet!). If you have questions, ask away in the comments below, I shou...

A video made to celebrate IPYVD 2016 featuring three unreleased Vectrex homebrew games. What games you may ask? You'll just have to watch the video to find out! I would suspect that there are other people in the Vectrex community who probably have access to these titles aside from myself, but this is likely the first time that video footage of any of them have been made widely available. Apolog...
Joust Evolution - International Play Your Vectrex Day 2014
Переглядів 1,2 тис.9 років тому
A video made to celebrate IPYVD 2014 featuring the unreleased Vectrex game Joust Evolution. Some people had asked about some footage of this title in the past, and so as I finally had both cartridge and overlay in the same place, it was time to record some gameplay for posterity. A few words about the history of this game. Alex Nicholson, the programmer, had already published three titles (Logo...

Shoulda quiet-quitted... or just left for where he was going and sod those calls from the office...
Saw this for the first time not in 1968 on CBS, but on PBS (NYC ch.13) in the 1980's. (And grateful to have watched the whole series without commercials, AND when vhs taping existed !!}
No. 6's name? Its John Drake, from the film "Secret Agent Man"
Eddie sent me, Up the Irons!
Sigh. We had so much fun with that show back in the day!
To those who come after me, I am writing in 2021. The collectivists have made the entire world population into Number 6. We are all covid prisoners. I can only hope that history will bring to light the truth of our plight at the hands of the ruling elite. They manufactured a fake pandemic crisis and locked us up. Let the history books show that a form of mass-hysteria took over the world, fueled by a corrupt and complicit media, for naught but the political capital it afforded our totalitarian masters and big-tech authoritarians. I suspect that by 2030 we will indeed be living a life similar to Patrick McGoohan's Number 6. The Rover will be played by Social Networks, Number 2 will be the rabid social justice warriors, and Number 1 will be the unwholly Cabal of power-mad leftist politicians and collectivist world organisations such as WHO and the IMF. I was a free man in 2019. Now I am a prisoner for the rest of my life.
Dear fellow Chiptune geeks please leave me some comments on my new Chiptune album.
0:41: "That's it, you and me are finished. I resign!"
Finally everyone can play something very similar to this on the Vectrex: tjocktv.se/
I got a 2’21”99 no shortcuts..
Wow I hope you have enough Vectrex systems to go with all those love the collection keep em coming
seven people never made it out of the village
This is what happens when you mesh Babs Bunny, Sandy Cheeks, Tinker Bell, and Lily Bobtail together!
Very metal!🤘🏻
It would be nice to see someone finish this game and release it.
Check this out: tjocktv.se/
Did you tell the kids the machine also accepts cartridges exactly like their Nintendo DS'es that have no loading time whatsoever and pops up the game instantly? This is giving the C64 a bad rep!!!
Yes, but the BBC wanted an "authentic" experience, hence using tape!
Good video, interesting. My 8 year old daughter had a similar reaction to my Spectrum - after cautious interest she's quite into it but I'm resisting the urge to give her an SD-card type device, I think the waiting for the game to load is an important part of it (ha ha). Seriously though, it does teach you a bit of patience and I think you're more prepared to spend 10-15 minutes with the game than if it took you a split-second to load it and you know there are another 200 games on the card to get through....
Definitely true, re number of games and speed of loading, saw it with kids given a Nintendo DS and an R4 full of ROMs, and they don't stick on any game for long.
Great video! I enjoyed that. Neat to see kids reactions on old tech.
God fucking damn I love this video. Everything about it is awesome. Everyone's having a great time and when he takes his hand off the keyboard to go back to the guitar you can see the power chords kick back in all across the stage.
I love Leo McKern's laugh..
;-) proche d'une réalité...
Fantastic collection!
Swinging 60's pseudo-rock music is painful to me....
You're selling some of those right? LOL
You wish ;)
Oh yes I do, very nice collection. I think many of us are envious. LOL
So this is where The Simpsons got that bit of Homer escaping from that cult and that sphere chasing after him. . .
You mean the homage to The Prisoner? Yes
Nice one Matt, wasn't aware half of these even existed, the last 2 were awesome.
Thanks, and there's still more out there I don't have.
Nice collection... the sticker on my Overdrive is all creased worse than yours... would be nice to get a new label made in a more durable material. Vectorcade and the Vic & Sarj ones are the ones I use the most.
Didn't even know all these existed. Excellent ways to control the Vectrex. Consider doing more videos I say! :) Thanks for showing these.
Awesome collection!
Was the Butler #1?
That would be telling.
It's undeniable that Lost was heavily influenced by this show. Specially the part about having a crappy ending which explained nothing, ha ha ha.
Haha this is great!
Awesome pieces of Vectrex homebrew history. Stip is something I had hope Martijn would continue to pursue as the design looked fantastic and I thought that the 4 overlays were extremely ambitious.
Nice vid, thanks for sharing... will have to try out Berzerk Arena. What Alex managed on the Vectrex is just amazing.
Very cool stuff, thanks for showing this!
Quite the jaw-dropping video with Stip's overlays! I also didn't know that Alex had something *else* he was working on other than Berzerk Arena.
You meant to say "Fun with Vectrex Flags"? :-)
who was brought here from Iron Maiden
This is really an IK+ clone - also a great game - it has nearly nothing in common with Way of the Exploding Fist.
There was a Fist+ game released for the C64, but that was inspired by IK+ in a way anyhow. I don't think many people know about it: www.gamebase64.com/game.php?id=2783&d=18&h=0
Ooh! Didn't know about this one!
Probably better off getting a C64 and tape copy of the game than a repro £50 NES cart really just for that amazing soundtrack.
Thanks for this ;-)

That's awesome!
Thanks Mat!
You're welcome. Figured I should get some record of it up online...
Wow interesting! Thanks for showing this!
No problem, figured someone such as yourself would appreciate seeing something highly secret in the Vectrex scene :)
Mayhemers Yes and videos like that make me aware about how little I still know about the Vectrex scene. ;-)
Congratulations to gather rom and overlay! The game looks really beauty
Yeah, screw "Fun with Flags"! Do you know if it was *supposed* to run in what would've been the final product where the instant you scoop up an egg a new warrior appears (like it's shown here)?
Probably not, as far as I can tell, it would have run the same waves as the proper Joust.
Thx 4 sharing Mayhem!
It's always nice to see how different classics look on the Vectrex. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers for sharing!
I probably shouldn't say this, but (sarcastically and ironically teasing) : "Come on Benn hit a note!"
